Our Ministry and Mission...

...touching lives of others and the community by providing a variety of compassionate programs that assist those in need and enable self-sufficiency!

In 1985, the Saint Adalbert’s Response to Love Center was founded to begin a ministry to the East Side of Buffalo. Sr. Mary Johnice, CSSF, a core of Felician Sisters and countless volunteers transformed the first and second floors of a former parish school building into a compassionate haven for the poor.

The Center is dedicated to helping poverty-stricken individuals and families. We empower people to take responsibility for their lives and encourage self-sufficiency through dignity and compassion. We develop relationships with individuals and introduce them to people and programs that will assist with their individual problems and needs.

People of all ages, races, genders, ethnicity, religion and cultural backgrounds are welcomed at the Center.

Much more than just a handout
it's a HAND UP!

In 2004-05, we served 27,713 meals in our dining room. Since 1996, our pantry has helped 23,000+ individuals in 11,400+ households. We provided personal care, client need and school supplies to over 500 community members in the past year.

Our intake team meets individually with clients and either assists them directly or guides them to one of our 45 active partners who can assist them further with their needs.

EXPANDED-GED and Computer Education Classes offered on-site and tuition free.

The latest addition to the services we provide is a collaborative effort with Erie County Social Services and the Matt Urban Center. As a worksite center, men and women who receive public assistance report here for community service assignments or enrollment in the GED program. Because of this collaborative effort, Response to Love Center is one of only four SNAP sites in Buffalo providing these services, and is the program model for the other three sites.

We have routine activities for Veterans, Food Stamp assistance, Blood Pressure screening, Toy/Food drives and other specialized events such as job fairs.
